🚶♀️Things to see in Newcastle Ouseburn🚶♀️
Let's take a walkabout.
Today’s walkabout is in the Ouseburn area of Newcastle and the street art you’ll find, not necessarily a City high on the list of those you’d associate with street art, if there is such a list, there probably is, there is a list of everything nowadays right? but there is always some lurking, if you choose to look, much like anything.
Colourful signs
Whether you love it or hate it, street art is something which can brighten up a City, give you a feel of the place, what’s happening and the businesses and artists which exist within it.
As we live in a world heavily dominated by social media (sigh) where it can often feel like nothing exists until its got it’s own instagram account (or insert social media of choice), street art is a medium which is still around and is there to be discovered organically (although, now, often can be part of a larger scale marketing campaign - hello 2025!).
The fact you can find a sticker or piece of art which leads to a discovery of something cool, fun and interesting, which doesn’t require looking at your phone screen for a second is cool.
If you’ve read any of my previous posts, you’ll know I love using street art as a visual reference point, it’s great to use as a marker, a meeting point or something to start exploring from.
You can check out my explore vienna piece where I used a piece of street art as a starting point to explore an area, if so inclined.
The Ouseburn changes much like the street art in it, so let’s begin with entering the valley from the direction of The Quayside from Walker Road down into Ouse Street and Lime Street.
Please note where possible I add the street artist or add ‘unknown’ as the case maybe, please feel free to message if you know an artist or if anything needs changing. Thank you.
